A Message From The Director
It is sometimes hard to stay motivated when you look around and notice so much has to be done.
It is time to get the lawn mower out and make those minor adjustments that can sometimes take a couple weeks with the proper form of procrastination.
I had to get line in the weedeater, which was another challenge, line all over the garage and my feet tangled up in it.
Do I really need to pull all those weeds or can I wait for the summer heat to dry them up?
I do not want to even think about home improvements my list above could take me into summer already.
Well what if we just put everything off? Not just our spring projects but things that make a difference in our lives and the lives of others. You have the gift to reach out and help others in a way that is more important than ever. When you make a gift to the Tukwila Pantry you are showing your neighbor the support of a caring community. You are demonstrating that even now in one of the most challenging economic times, you do care about the health and wellness of our community and with your support transforming the lives of many.
When you make your gift you know it helps many like Ethel and Robert Smart put food on their table for their family of eight.
Ethel and her family were frequent visitors at the Tukwila Pantry until 2006 when she found a job and her family gained the financial ability
to make the independent choices many of us take for granted.
Last month Ethel visited the Tukwila Pantry for the first time in 4 years. Once again the loss of a job has had a devastating impact on her family.
Your gift to the Tukwila Pantry allows Ethel to still make essential choices with the limited resources that are now available to her.
Your gift makes sure that food is available and their struggles will be less. Steve Hansen at 72 years old, living alone and working, until last February, lost the use of his vehicle and then his job. Steve has only Social Security to live on, but because of your financial gift Steve can rely on the Tukwila Pantry. Steve knows that he does not have to worry about paying his rent or having food at the end of the month. Steve has a place to call where he knows others and they know him. He will have packages of food delivered to his home and a chance to visit with a friend.
You do make the difference in the lives of so many throughout our community. With your continued support you allow Tukwila Pantry to meet the already increasing demands that we are seeing this year.
Yes I do have time to mow the lawn and get the weedeating done.
However, my thoughts are continually on others in our community whom, through no fault of their own, have demands placed
upon them that we could not even imagine.
Please take this time to make your gift known to many in the community by supporting the Tukwila Pantry
