Thank You SeaTac-Tukwila Rotary!

We want to thank the Rotary Club of Seatac-Tukwila for their work in helping the Tukwila Pantry use and operate this refrigerated trailer. Over the course of the ongoing COVID Crisis, this trailer has allowed the Pantry to serve the hundreds of households that have sought our services each week. It has greatly enhanced our ability to store more produce and other food items to distribute. We have used it every day – often filling it to the brim – and we appreciate its continued service here at Tukwila Pantry.

You can learn more about the Rotary Club on their Facebook page.

Tukwila Pantry Featured by TPD

We want to share this great video, shot by the Tukwila Police Department, featuring our operations and organizational needs. You can learn a lot in two minutes twenty-five seconds, especially when Pastor Jan is your narrator!

We really do count on the community’s continued support at the Pantry. Thank you all for your support – both over the years and during this ongoing crisis. You can support the Pantry by volunteering at signing up on our volunteer page, you can follow us on Instagram and Facebook, or by making a financial contribution.

Announcing Get-a-Truck

Today, we are excited to announce a fundraising campaign in partnership with Tukwila Children’s Foundation (TCF) to get the Pantry a new delivery truck: Get-a-Truck. Go on over to TCF’s website to learn more and donate.

The Pantry’s current truck has over 575,000 registered miles, is in need of major repair, and has spent out the last days of its life serving the communities of Tukwila, SeaTac, Burien and Boulevard Park. The Pantry urgently needs a replacement – and we need matching donations to actually purchase a new truck! We are now serving well over 1000 households a week, and we can’t run the risk of having our truck fall out of commission as this crisis drags on. That’s why some donors and grantmakers have stood up to help us buy a truck – but we need the matching funds to actually buy a new truck!

Our current truck, broken down

We are excited to be partnering with TCF on this major project. Our goal is to raise $15,000, and we believe that together, as a community, we can do this and set the Pantry up to serve the residents of Tukwila, SeaTac, Burien, and Boulevard Park for years to come!

New Normal

Tukwila Pantry has definitively entered a new state of normal during this COVID-19 crisis. On Saturday, April 18, the Pantry served over 450 households. A few weeks ago, the Pantry served less than 100 on an average day. The depth of this public health and economic crisis has only begun to be seen, and the effects will continue to be felt my many people in this community for months to come.

In the midst of this enormous crisis, it has been heartening for us at the Pantry to see the outpouring of support for our efforts and mission. Many people have come to volunteer, have dropped off needed supplies, organized efforts to donate food, and shared our message with their neighbors and friends. We hope that you can join this outpouring of support by coming to volunteer, following us on Facebook, becoming one of our first Instagram followers, or considering making a monetary contribution.

Thank you to everyone who has been a supporter or become a supporter during this critical period!
